Serve Others

St. Francis encourages all parishioners to get involved in their community and beyond.

St. Vincent De Paul Society Thrift Store

The St. Vincent De Paul Society Thrift Store sells clothing, shoes, accessories, and household items for reasonable prices. Bag sales and discounts on individual items are offered occasionally.

Volunteers are always needed! Tasks involve sorting, pricing, and working the cash register. Joyce Glaser, Manager, can answer questions or give more information. Please call her at 765-282-2842.

The Thrift Store is located on the second floor of the former St. Lawrence School at Charles and Hackley Streets. Store hours are 10am to 3pm Tuesday through Friday, and 10am to 12 noon on Saturday.

Christian Ministries

Christian Ministries is a food pantry and general resource for people in need. St. Francis Parishioners help pack up groceries and give them out at the 401 E. Main Street pantry about six times a year. They also can help prepare and clean up the upstairs sleeping room which operates from the end of October to the middle of April.

If you feel called to fulfill this Christian function and need, please call 765-288-0601.

Harvest Soup Kitchen

The Harvest Soup Kitchen has operated for 11 years in the old St. Lawrence School at Charles and Hackley Streets. Between 125 and 150 people are served a free lunch every Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 11:30am. Special Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with gifts are scheduled for the holidays. The Soup Kitchen is a place where many gather to visit and find refuge from the elements.

They seek organizations, businesses, and private donors to contribute money and food. Many church, school, and social groups provide bag lunches.

If you are interested in helping, please call the kitchen at 765-287-8439 for more information.
