Sacramental Preparation
There are opportunities for parishoners to assist those who are interested in receiving sacraments in the Catholic Church.
We need the support of current parishoners to make the RCIA program successful. The RCIA program is for adult individuals seeking the Catholic Rites of Initiation for the first time. The program begins in early fall and culminates with the Rites of Initiation at the Easter Vigil Mass, but catechetical sessions continue through Pentecost.
Please call Doris Rhea, RCIA Coordinator, at 765-284-2413 if you are interested in this ministry.
Sponsors are asked to serve as a companion to one of our RCIA candidates.
We ask the sponsors:
- to welcome their candidate into the faith community,
- to attend the 11:15am Mass and the following Catechetical session with their candidate, and
- to share their own faith experiences and knowledge with their candidate.
If you would like to share your time and talents by helping to introduce new people to the Catholic faith, please contact Doris Rhea, RCIA Coordinator, at 765-284-2413.
When possible, snacks are provided during the Catechetical sessions that take place each Sunday in the RCIA Program. Meals are also provided for the full-day retreat that takes place in February each year. This is a great way to meet the candidates while sharing your culinary skills.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please call Doris Rhea, RCIA Coordinator, at 765-284-2413.
The Newman Center hosts a one-day retreat for our RCIA Candidates before Lent each year. This provides the candidates and their sponsors time to be together and share with one another. The focus is often on the importance of prayer and the group practices a variety of prayer styles.
If you would be interested in being a retreat leader, please call Doris Rhea, RCIA Coordinator, at 765-284-2413.
St. Francis offers a "Sponsor Couple" Pre-Cana program to those couples who wish to be married in the Catholic Church.
A sponsor couple can be any couple that has been married for over five years and would like to minister to engaged couples. (Both spouses do not need to be Catholic.) The couple must attend training sessions before they can minister to the engaged couples.
This is an excellent program that offers both the married couple and the engaged couple the opportunity to renew and strengthen their relationship. As a sponsor couple, you would meet with the engaged couple in private to speak from your own experience of Christian marriage, sharing your secrets to success and your insights on marriage as a sacred institution.
If you are interested in this rewarding ministry, please contact Jerry and Carol McConnell at 765-288-9659.
