Refreshments are offered in the Parish Hall each Sunday after the 9:00am Mass. All are welcome to attend to meet and greet your fellow parishioners.
Each week presents an opportunity for you to host this event. Hosts are responsible for picking up the donuts, setup, and clean up.
Donuts and other supplies should be picked up on Sunday morning between 8:00 and 8:30am at the Marsh Supermarket on W. McGalliard. Supplies include juice, napkins, coffee, etc., depending on what's in short supply that weekend.
The next task is to setup the Parish Hall: moving tables; making coffee; arranging condiments, napkins, and cups; and tastefully displaying the donuts on the tables. It is necessary to leave Mass after Communion so that you have ample time to pour coffee and juice.
At the conclusion, you would count the donations, place the money in an envelope, and bring it to the sacristy upstairs. Make sure that the coffee and donuts area is clean for the next group scheduled to use the space.
This is a great way for every member of your family -- or you and some friends -- to participate in a St. Francis activity. We hope to find volunteers who would be willing to host for a month at a time. If you're interested, please call Lenny Baierwalter at 765-747-9126.
St. Francis provides a nursery service for parents during the Sunday morning Masses. If you would be willing to help staff the nursery, please contact Lori Wilhelm at 765-759-6702.
As a University Parish, St. Francis is always welcoming new members to the parish community and the community at large. If you are interested in meeting new Catholic families and helping to orient them to their new life in Muncie, please let the parish office know at 765-288-6180.
If you would like to invite Fr. John to dine with you and your family and friends, please contact Peg Hornsby at 765-286-9026. (Vegetarian options, please.)
This group provides a meal for mourners after a funeral of a resident parishioner, and reaches out to meet the needs of the family. This service is especially appreciated by relatives and friends who live out of town and must return home after the service. At this time of greatest need for sympathy and understanding, we seek to provide a few happy moments to replace the sad.
Volunteers are needed to share responsibilities for this service: to provide food, to set up, serve, and clean up. This group may get only a few days advance notice. For more information, please contact the office.
Some of our parishioners have difficulty transporting themselves to church. If you would be willing to provide someone transportation to Mass, please contact the parish office at 765-288-6180.
The Newman-Assisi Library makes religious materials, including books, audio tapes, and videos, available for borrowing at no charge. The library is located in the East Hallway, opposite the chapel.
Volunteers are need to help with the following tasks:
- Typing catalog cards;
- Covering books with dust covers;
- Filing catalog cards in the drawers;
- Keeping the library shelves in order; and
- Previewing books and tapes.
Donations of religious materials are gratefully accepted.
For further information, please call Betty Leonard, the volunteer librarian, at 765-288-7605.
This ministry to the hospitalized and homebound members of our faith community involves a pastoral visit to the sick, praying with them, and preparing them for and/or administering Holy Communion. It could just be a pleasant conversation with them. You should be commissioned as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion in order to administer Communion.
If you can help even one day a month with this important ministry, please join us. Please call Lory Lee at 765-282-0563 for more information.
St. Francis' annual Lenten Fish Fry has become a premiere parish gathering. The 29th Annual Fish Fry is scheduled for February 29, 2008, beginning at 4:30pm in the Parish Hall. If you are interested in helping out in any capacity, please contact Paul Newport at 765-284-1114.
The Friendship Circle, a non-denominational social group for seniors, has been in existence for over 25 years at St. Francis. Membership now numbers more than 50. Please call Trudy Pellegrini at 765-288-3166 if you'd like to get involved.
